Hours: Full time with a minimum of 37.5 hours per week. As a salaried position the role does not attract overtime payments and job holder will be expected to work the hours that are reasonably necessary to meet the requirements of the role. This will involve additional hours beyond core contractual working hours

Location: Chatham, Kent ME4 4UB.

Are you driven to provide excellent customer service? Do you have experience in the heritage or visitor experience fields? If so this role may be for you. An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the day to day operations of Fort Amherst. Britain’s largest Napoleonic Fortress.

Reporting directly to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, the job holder will have responsibility for the overall management of the staff and volunteers, the management of the day to day finances of the Fort as well as management of the café / visitor centre and oversight of our many and varied events.

The role holder will have a proven track record of delivery within the heritage, visitor experience or leisure industries at management level and will be experienced in finance, human resources, volunteer recruitment, marketing including website management and obtaining external funding.

With a recent Heritage Lottery Fund Grant having been awarded to the Fort, this is a fantastic opportunity for the right individual to lead the Fort on the next stage of its development.
