Whatever the weather - there'll be plenty to do at this SPACE SPECTACULAR - a star-studded and packed event which will include a range of educational and exciting interactive stands, talks and telescopes for viewing the heavens!
The talks will take place in our atmospheric Guard House between 4.45pm and 8.45pm. (Please note this has a maximum capacity of 50 people per talk on a first come, first served basis) and will cover the following topics.
4.45pm - 5.30pm: To Infinity and Beyond
5.45pm - 6.30pm: In Search of Aliens
6.45pm - 7.30pm: Space Dogs
7.45pm - 8.30pm: Exploding Stars and Black Holes
8.45pm - 9.30pm: Mercury, Beyond the Messenger Mission
The talks are indoors and so will be completely weather proof.
There is also the opportunity to visit our restored Heritage Lottery Funded Grand Magazine which will also be hosting exciting interactive displays, activities and exhibits including:
* Crater Making
* Touch the Moon
* Make a Galaxy
* GP20 display (telescope). This is a very large, professional, very valuable, scientific instrument that is being completely restored by Mid-Kent Astronomical Society, with the intention that it will be installed in a custom made observatory in Medway for the use of local residents
Outside, there will be a number of telescopes placed on top of the Grand Magazine enabling solar observing (looking safely at the Sun as you have never seen it before to observe spots on it, flares and the surface changing), lunar observing (to see the Moon with Mountains, Seas, Craters and the Terminator), and space observing (to view Stars, Galaxies, Nebulae and the Constellations). This will all be overseen by the Mid-Kent Astronomical Society (www.midkentastro.org.uk).
Light refreshments including sandwiches, crisps and hot and cold drinks will be available for purchase throughout the event.
TIMES: From 4pm until 10pm. We ask all guests to leave promptly at 10.00pm to allow us to clear and secure the site.
BOOKING: To book adult tickets (£5) please click HERE, and for children's (ages 5 - 12) tickets (£3) please click HERE (children under 5 years of age go free).

Paid parking can be found at the Brook, the Library, Pentagon Centre and Gun Wharf - all are within a short walk of the Fort.
